Unconfirmed reports from the Council and East Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) indicate Tanzania and Rwanda will host this year’s Kagame Cup and Senior Challenge Cup respectively.

Last year, the CECAFA Kagame Cup was successfully held in Kigali, Rwanda while the Challenge cup wasn’t held after Ethiopia who had the rights pulled out at the eleventh hour.

The Council thus failed to secure sponsorship and new hosts and has according mediamaxnetwork.co.ke forced the Council’s General Secretary Nicholas Musonye to disclose that the host nation won’t be burdened as much as before.

“All of us have agreed that the host country will provide food, accommodation and local transport to the teams and officials, then all participating countries will foot the bill of their own transport to the tournament,” Musonye is quoted to have said at a briefing in Nairobi.

“It had been very challenging and there was so much pressure on the host country to foot this entire bill especially when there is no sponsor on board and to ease the pressure, we agreed on that,” Musonye added.

“We are in talks with a number of sponsors and if everything goes on board, then we might change that arrangement,” he noted.

The Club championship is sponsored by Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame while the Challenge Cup is sponsor less.

Efforts to talk to Musonye were futile as his known mobile number was off but the CECAFA media officer Rogers Mulindwa said.
“An official communication will be made as soon as possible on the stand with hosts.”
