Ugandan born Sierra Leonean Ronald Lwebuga, has been elevated to Candidate Master after putting an impressive show at the Zone 4.4 chess championships recently in Lome, Togo.
Lwebuga won 5 of the 9 rounds of his games during the tournament thus elevating him to Candidate Master.
The tournament was held between 13-22 March in Lome, Togo and attracted the nations of that Zone that include Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Repubulic, Cote D’ Ivoire, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Sao Tome, Sierra Leone and Togo.
Uganda’s FIDE arbitor Stephen Kisuze, was the arbitor at this tournament in Togo.
The Sierra Leonean missed out at playing at the World Chess Olympiad last year in Norway, after a major outbreak of Ebola hit majority of West Africa.
Lwebuga is back too his homeland as his company in Sierra Leone is readjusting it’s plans in the New Year.
