Sudan giants Al Merriekh and Al Hilal will host their 2026/27 Caf Champions League matches in Kigali, Rwanda, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed.

The move follows the continued suspension of football in their home country due to the civil war still ongoing.

According to the Times of Rwanda, Al Merriekh will use Kigali Pele stadium while Al Hilal will host their matches at the grand Amahoro stadium.

Al Hilal enters into the competition as the league winners with their rivals as runners up following their exploits in the Rwanda BK Pro League last season.

The two clubs competed in the Rwanda league with Al Hilal topping the standings with 70 points, eleven ahead of second placed APR who literally won the title while Al Merriekh were third.

The duo has again formally requested to continue featuring in the BK Pro League with that sent to CAF according to the Football FA in Rwanda.

Elsewhere, Hilal Al Sahel Sports who will represent Sudan in the Caf Confederation Cup have also applied to host their matches in Kigali and await Caf clearance.
