Uganda Premier League side Kitara has confirmed the signing of Uganda Cranes goalkeeper, Joel Mutakubwa.
The development was confirmed today, Wednesday, July 22, 2026 via the club’s official website.
“Kitara FC have strengthened their goalkeeping department with the signing of Uganda Cranes shot stopper Joel Mutakubwa,” the statement partly reads.
Mutakubwa joins Kitara on a two-year employment contract following his exit from Ethiopian side Wolwalo Adigrat University FC.
The custodian joins the Royals after a colourful campaign, where he was exceptional as Wolwalo Adigrat edged Sidama Bunna in the Ethiopian FA Cup.
Speaking after the confirmation, Kitara’s gaffer Wasswa Bbosa is confident that Mutakubwa’s arrival brings confidence and adds quality.
“We faced some challenges previously and we obviously didn’t want to go through the same again and that’s why you see the arrival of Joel,” he said.
“He is committed, has lots of experience and his quality is what any other coach would facy to have in his squad,” he added.
Mutakubwa’s arrival joins Kitara’s new faces such as Nicholas Kasozi, Martin Kizza, Bonney Christopher, Jackson Ssembatya and Missi Ssemugera.
Kitara continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the team’s engagement in the CAF Confederation Cup.
