In an emotional farewell message, former Uganda Cranes captain Emmanuel Arnold Okwi has officially announced his retirement from professional football after many unforgettable years on the pitch.

“After many unforgettable years on the pitch, the time has come for me to say goodbye to professional football,” the statement partly reads.
Okwi described the choice as one of the hardest decisions of his life, reflecting that football has been far more than just a career for him—it was his passion, purpose, and a dream he was blessed to live every single day.

Reflecting on his career highlights, Okwi emphasised that representing his country was the greatest honour of his journey.
He stated that wearing the Uganda Cranes jersey will forever hold a special place in his heart, noting that being entrusted with the captain’s armband was a privilege he will always cherish. He expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity to lead the national team on the pitch.
