National golfers will be jostling for the overall prize this morning when they play their opening round at the Mbarara Open golf championship that has teed off with the gross players and professionals playing 36 holes at the par 70, 9 hole course at the Mbarara Sports Club.
It’s exactly 9 year’s since the prestigious tournament was held at this course and it will only be fitting for the tournament to swing off in grand style with majority of the national golfers embracing the tournament.
Mehta Golf Club’s Ronald “Rasta” Bukenya, will be seeking to maintain his good form going into this tournament having recently claimed the Mayombo memorial tournament at the Toro Club, Fort Portal. Others to watch include Entebbe’s Henry Lujja, Robert “Escobar” Oluba, Peter Ssendaula, Ronald Otile, Adolf Muhumuza, Lawrence Muhenda, Happy Robert, Ronald Rugumayo, Martin Ochaya and many more.
The tournament is being sponsored by China Railway Seventh Group and Pepsi. Mbarara Sport Club has received an entry of 124 golfers in total including the professionals who have a cash kitty of 10 million over 36 holes.
