FIFA has confirmed Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro (MAM Rio) as the venue where the official draw for the 2027 Women’s World Cup will take place on 11th December 2026.
The draw event will bring together representatives of the qualified teams and those still in contention, against the backdrop of one of Brazil’s most iconic cultural landmarks.
The draw will determine the groups and competitive pathways for the participating nations, who will begin to visualise their journey towards glory at the first-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup to be staged in South America.
The selected Venue will showcase Brazil’s rich artistic heritage, creativity, imagination and expression that have long characterised the country’s relationship with football.
At the iconic MAM Rio, where artistic vision is displayed and celebrated daily, the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027 will honour the enduring concept of futebol arte and the players who epitomise it on the pitch. The connection between the beautiful game and art is also evident in the tournament’s branding, which features artwork created by female Brazilian artists for each Host City.
Football has often been described as a universal language. In Brazil, it’s also an art form,” said FIFA Chief Football Officer Jill Ellis during a site visit to MAM Rio. “Every pass can become a brushstroke, every movement a moment of inspiration and every goal a masterpiece. The FIFA Women’s World Cup showcases the very best players in the world, and there’s no better place to begin drawing their paths through the tournament in Brazil than a venue that celebrates creativity and human expression.
Over 1,000 guests are expected to attend the final draw, including delegations from qualified teams and those due to participate in the Play-Off Tournament for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027 in February next year, local authorities and stakeholders, Commercial Partners and members of the media.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027 will feature 32 teams competing across 64 matches and eight Host Cities and is expected to become the most-attended edition of FIFA’s flagship women’s competition to date.
