KCCA head coach Brian Ssenyondo has termed his team’s defensive performance in the 2-0 loss to NEC on Saturday as ‘reckless’.
The gaffer was left furious after his team made a false start to the new season, losing to NEC at the MTN-Omondi Stadium. Richard Basangwa and Pius Obuya scored a goal each for The DieHards.
Ssenyondo believes his charges did not do well in as far as defending was concerned, indicating they gave away two cheap goals.
“It is unacceptable; we shouldn’t have lost this game. We gave away too many easy chances. When you look at the goals our opponents scored, it was from our reckless defending,” he said.
Asked if his team was not clinical enough going forward, Ssenyondo insisted they had to first work on their defending before thinking of going forward.
“I know we must be clinical going forward, but we must be equally good at the back. We can’t be thinking of going forward, yet our defending is poor. We must improve going into the next games.”
KCCA will return to action on Thursday, 3rd September with a cross-town visit to face Express at Nakivubo Stadium.
