The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially reached a brand-new agreement with veteran Portuguese tactician Carlos Queiroz to continue his role as head coach of the Black Stars.
The decision comes after the GFA and the Ministry of Sports resolved previous financial hurdles, clearing outstanding payments from his initial tenure and paving the way for contract negotiations to conclude smoothly.
The extension ensures technical stability for the national team following their run into the knockout stages of the recent FIFA World Cup.
GFA leadership highlighted Queiroz’s extensive international experience and existing familiarity with the squad as pivotal factors behind retaining him.
The veteran former Real Madrid and Manchester United manager initially took charge on a short-term basis earlier in the year, but this newly finalised mandate gives him a clear runway to reshape the squad and guide the country into its next major international cycle.
With his contract extension secured, Queiroz’s immediate task turns to the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
The Black Stars are set to begin their qualifiers in late September with a crucial fixture against Ivory Coast in Bouaké, followed shortly by a home clash against The Gambia in Accra, as Ghana aims to bounce back on the continental stage and secure a place at the next showpiece tournament.
