Uganda Cranes fast paced dribbling winger, William Luwagga Kizito is destined for a dream move in the Portuguese top flight league by the close of business on Friday.

Rio Ave F.C, a club in the Portuguese Superliga league, finished 10th of the 18 teams in the league, 41 points adrift of champions, Benfica who ended the 2014/15 season with 85 points.

If all goes according to plan, Luwagga will join another William, a Liberian born striker, Jebor. Jebor is back in Africa to prepare for his country’s upcoming match against Togo.

Coach Pedro Martins, who is the head tactician is reportedly a keen admirer of the Ugandan ace and has been monitoring the performances of the dribbling ace at second division side, Sporting Covilha.

Luwagga, who had returned to Uganda left the country mid week to complete the deal. Uganda Cranes head coach, Micho confirms Luwagga informed him when he was returning to Europe.

He expects him by Sunday in preparation for the Country’s international matches next week against Gambia (friendly) and Botswana (AFCON 2017 qualifier).

Luwagga has previously played at Vipers sports club in the Uganda Premier league before he transfered to, Leixoes and Sporting Covilha in the Portuguese Segunda, the version of the FUFA Big league in Uganda.

The winger had an impressive season with Sporting Covilha, finishing a point behind the league winners, Tondela (81) but tied joint second with two other clubs, Uniao Madeira and Chaves.

Sporting Covilha, Uniao Madeira and Chaves all finished on 80 points but Luwagga’s side was beaten on a head to head record for a slot to the top flight league.
