The 10th edition of the Valden Youth Cup (VYC), a memorial grassroots football tournament, will run under the theme: “Spread Love and Unity Through Sports”.
It will involve the different categories, Geto2Geto Derby B8, B10, B12 and B14, with over 30 teams expected across the varying age groups for a total pool of 300 junior players, 60 officials and a cross-section of parents and other fans.
For starters, this tournament was founded in 2021 in honour of Uncle Denis Taylor (RIP), who lost his battle to cancer.
This event honours the living and fallen sports heroes, organized by Macgregor Brands Visuals.
It started as one-day gala to league formats, unearthing talent in Kampala and Eastern region.

Theme and Aim:
The tournament theme “Spread Love and Unity Through Sports” targets remembering all those who lost their lives while serving football.
The key purpose is to foster talent development, community engagement, and giving boys & girls equal platform.
Dates & Activities:
On 8th September 2026 (Day 1), all the group stages and quarter final duels will be played at the Sky Blue Leisure Garden, Ttula
The semi finalists will be accommodated at Rexona Junior School, Ttula before the semis and finals on the subsequent day, the same day as the awarding ceremony.
Prizes:
There is a great pool of prizes to the top performers.
These will range from the man of the match accolades, Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards, best goalkeeper, top scorer, best coach plaques.
Champions will be given a trophy, gold medals, bibs, cash and a certificate.
The runners up will take bibs, medals, cash, certificate. The third and fourth placed teams will get bibs, cash and certificate.

Roll cast of winners:
The inaugural edition in 2021 was won by Katooke Boys. Emirates Academy (Nansana) won in 2022 for the U-10.
2022 (open) was taken by Workers FC from Kisaasi. In 2023, Brainstorm (Wrexham Select) were champions.
