Uganda Premier League side NEC FC has handed holding midfielder Shamir Kimwero a five-year contract extension.

The club officially confirmed the development on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, via its social media channels.

“Shamir Kimwero has extended his stay with NEC FC, putting pen to paper on a new five-year contract,” the club statement read.

The extension secures the experienced and hard-working defensive midfielder’s services for the long term as The Diehards seek stability and continued progress.

The club’s management reaffirmed their trust in Kimwero following a series of influential performances in the central park since his arrival.

His retention guarantees crucial continuity for the coaching staff as NEC target domestic success and silverware this season.

NEC has enjoyed a bright start to the campaign, winning both of their opening fixtures against KCCA FC and Lugazi FC.
