Teso Ring Warriors crowned overall champions of 2026 Eastern Region Novice Boxing Championship

Soroti City-based Teso Ring Warriors Boxing Club won the overall trophy of the 2026 Eastern Region Novice Boxing Championship that concluded on Friday, 11th September, at Kyabazinga Stadium, Bugembe, in Jinja.

Teso Ring Warriors Boxing Club beat 17 other clubs to glory, dominating the championship and taking home two major trophies — the Elite Category trophy and the Overall Championship trophy.

The championship, organised by the Eastern Boxing Association and Uganda Boxing Federation, attracted 139 boxers (Male and Female) competing in three categories: Juniors, Youth and Elite.

The event was graced by Owe’kitiibwa Edward Munaba, Minister for General Duties in Busoga Kingdom.

Owe’kitiibwa represented the Prime Minister Katuukiro Dr Joseph Muvawala Nsekere.

He started the closing ceremony by leading a moment of silence in honour of the fallen King of Tooro, Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru.

Congratulations to the winners. To those who haven’t won, this is not the end. I want to thank all boxers for exhibiting high levels of discipline and determination. Your hard work is surely not in vain.

We have been training intensively ever since we started a boxing club in Teso, we haven’t relaxed from day one. We are ready to represent the region effectively.

Be-Yu Boxing Club from Iganga District won the juniors’ cluster, whilst Changes Boxing Club from Mbale City were the youth champions.

The best boxers from each category will now represent Eastern Region at the National Novice Boxing Championship on 19th September at Lugogo Indoor Stadium, Kampala.
