Uganda Martyrs Lubaga began the 2026/27 FUFA Women Super League on a brilliant note, earning a hard-fought win over Lady Doves on matchday one.
The Kidda Girls had to dig deep to secure a 1-0 win in the game that was played on Sunday at Katusabe Stadium in Masindi.
Jessica Ritah Nalubwama scored the lone goal of the game shortly before the break and Uganda Martyrs eventually held onto the score to claim all three points.
Coach Edward Kasozi lauded his players for the performance and believes the victory gives them motivation ahead of the next games.
“I want to thank the players for the effort because the game was tough but we managed to fight on and hold onto the lead. This will definitely gives us motivation going to the next games,” he said.
Uganda Martyrs will return to action on Sunday at home to Rines SS while Lady Doves will make a long trip to Eastern Uganda to face Amus College.
