FUFA has announced a proposed budget of Shs122.1 billion for the next financial year. The budget was revealed on Saturday during the 102nd FUFA Ordinary General Assembly held at Hotel Triangle in Mbarara City.
The aforementioned figures show a huge increase from the 48.6 billion budget that FUFA operated on during this year.
According to FUFA President Moses Magogo, the increase is attributed to the recent reforms at CAF and FIFA, where Member Associations are expected to get more funding.
Additionally, with AFCON 2027 coming, the Government of the Republic of Uganda has also increased its funding towards FUFA, with emphasis put on preparations ahead of the tournament.
The projected income sources will fetch 122.1 billion shillings, namely UGX 24 billion from FIFA, UGX 4.5 billion from CAF, UGX 8 billion from CAF television rights, UGX 74.5 billion from Government, UGX 7.3 billion from partners and sponsors, UGX 3 billion from new revenue streams and UGX 700 million from other sources.
On the other hand, FUFA’s expenditure forecast stands at UGX 192.4 billion, of which UGX 122.1 billion is prioritised, leaving an unfunded gap of UGX 70.2 billion.
The expenditure priorities include AFCON preparations, an increase in prize money across all FUFA Competitions, and insurance cover for the FUFA Big League, FUFA Juniors League and FUFA Academies League.
The expenditure will also stretch to improving training and welfare for referees and investment in higher-quality production and distribution of media rights from football competitions.
FUFA will also provide financial support to its members, including clubs, provinces and District Football Associations.
There was also confirmation of the actualisation of the National Football Academy.
