- BUL FC vs NEC FC – FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru (4:00 PM)
- Lugazi FC vs Express FC – Lugazi Stadium, Najjembe (4:00 PM)
Early pacesetters BUL face arguably their sternest test of the season so far when they face visiting NEC at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Wednesday.
The Eastern Giants are leading the 18-team table with 16 points and have only dropped points in the goalless draw away to Lugazi so far this season.
On the contrary, NEC are on 14 points, same points as SC Villa in joint second place with four points dropped in draws away and at home to Mbarara City and Express respectively.
Badru Kaddu wants his side to show grit against the table toppers by getting the desired three points which will see them climb top of the log displacing BUL.
“For us, the objective is to compete against the best and we are facing a very good side in BUL who are top,” said Kaddu who confirmed the return of left back Hakim Wandera from injury and James Jarieko from suspension.
Kaddu also hopes that the Bugolobi based side maintains their unbeaten streak against the Eastern giants [W3, D5] in eight meetings in all competitions.
The visitors will rely on the attacking prowess of Richard Basangwa, Marvin Oshaba, Jarieko, Allan Mugalu and Enrique Lubwama to unlock the BUL backline that has only shipped in two goals.
Meanwhile, Alex Isabirye’s men have been lethal up front as well scoring 13 goals, only Villa (14) has managed more and will hope their scoring spree goes on.
Simon Achidi, Derrick Byabacwezi, Simon Okello and Swabir Mpasa will be the key players with a task to unlock NEC defence that stands as amongst the best backline with only two goals conceded so far.
A win for BUL will see them expand the gap between the two sides to five.
In the other game of the day, wounded Express travel to Najjembe where on and off Lugazi is lurking.
