On August 2, 2015 the owner of Bakhresa Group Of Companies (parent company of Azam FC) Said Salim Bakhresa turned 66 years and the club wanted to win the CECAFA Kagame Cup for him.

This was revealed by the club’s coach Stewart Hall on Sunday, moments after the side defeated Gor Mahia 2-0 to win their first regional title since their inception in 2007.

We wanted to win it for the old man (Said Salim Bakhresa), it his birthday today and the only birthday present we would have given him was winning the title.

Hall told kawowo sports before adding;

He loves this football club, he wants to see us prosper and we work day and night to achieve that. The title means a lot to him, for someone who has lived and has a business empire in Tanzania.

Goals by John Bocco and Kipre Tchetche in both halves at the Tanzania National Stadium erased memories of 2012 when Yanga defeated Azam 2-0 at the same venue.

The targets we set in the first place were to get to the final, and try to win it this time round after we lost it in 2012, we knew it was going to be hard, and we took every game seriously

Azam played a total of six games and didn’t concede any goal, scoring 11 in the process. The team’s heroes in the final Tchetche and Bocco scored four and three of the eleven goals respectively.
