Uganda Cranes official main sponsors, Airtel Uganda have joined the other partner, Nile Breweries Limited in supporting and promoting the national team to the countryside, through the regional tour project.
This development follows a series of closed down meetings between the two parties and the federation marketing wing until an all embracing concord was reached in the affirmative to co-own the project.
The two companies’ representatives announced the start of the partnership at a joint press conference held at FUFA House on Wednesday.
“We have always desired to be part of the Uganda Cranes regional tours and we are glad it has come true. We are committed towards supporting the team and henceforth the visibility the comes along with it” an excited Airtel Uganda brand, assets and properties manager, Noella Byuma noted.
Previously, the campaign was solely owned by the beer company-Nile Breweries under the code name “Uganda Cranes Na-Mutima”.
Now, the campaign has been re-branded altogether as ‘Uganda Cranes Regional Tours’.
“We shall remain committed to the cause of supporting football and ready to work with our partners to help the national team garner support in every corner of the country” Nile Breweries Isaac Ssekaasi remarked.
Last year when the campaign was first launched, the Uganda Cranes visited the Western, North Eastern and Northern regions.
The national team won 1-0 and 2-0 over the West and North East regions respectively before triumphing 5-0 in the North at Pece Stadium.
Milutin Sredojevic, the head coach for the Cranes sings special praise of the regional tours arrangement.
“These regional tours have helped take the team closer to the people, keep players engaged and we have unearthed players from this campaign, a case in point – Farouk Miya”.
