2015 National Pool Championship

Grand Final Day: Saturday, 24th October 2015 – MTN Indoor Arena, Lugogo

Something special is brewing in the pool fraternity at Rock Catalina bar on Thursday morning. 

It is not any sort of liquor but predictably, the known National pool championship draws where the 128 finalists will get to know their opponents and line of passage to glory.

The excursion towards determining the finest national pool champion gets closer to the designated day of the grand finals, the fate of the 128 finalists kick starts on Thursday with the draws.

Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) publicity secretary, Michael Mawanda confirms to Kawowo Sports;

All the 128 finalists will be drawn during a ceremony to take place at Rock Catalina in Ntinda.

This follows the successful completion of the national qualifiers where 120 players toiled through from the different corners of Uganda to join the known top eight seeded players.

In the draws, it is pertinent to note the eight top seeds can only and only meet at the quarter final stage. Different pool players who made the finals have openly expressed their readiness to play for the most coveted prize.

The reigning national champion, Fahad Ssewankambo believes he can successfully defend his crown although he admits it will take an extra mile to repeat his 2014 heroics.

Prizes:

Like in the previous two editions, the winner will drive home on the night with a cash prize worth Ug.shs 2M, a winner’s jacket and brand new pool tables.

The first runners up gets a pool table and Ug.shs 1M.

There different cash prizes for all the last 16 players in varying proportions.
