Uganda started their journey to the International Cricket Council (ICC) Under 19 World Cup with a loss to United States of America on Thursday a qualifying encounter the side lost by 6 wickets.
The Baby Cranes won the toss and elected to bat, but all eventually did not go as planned as USA emerged top at the end of the match at Kinrara Academy Oval of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

USA won with 58 balls remaining, after Uganda made 167 runs in 42.2 overs. USA launched a strong onslaught, held their nerves and eventually bowled out Henry Oketcho’s boys.
Ashiraf Senkubuge and Kenneth Waiswa’s partnership for Uganda yielded 32 runs a top performance that was only beaten by Tohidul Islam and Sagar Patel plus Sagar and Ganji pairings.
Kenneth Waiswa topped Uganda’s charts as with 38 runs, John Gabula following close with 37. Sagar Patel’s man of the match performance rescued USA as Uganda settled fourth on the standings.
Baby Cranes play Nepal tomorrow at 4:30am (Uganda time), a side that opened the tournament with an easy nine-wicket victory over Papua New Guinea.
Five countries in Nepal, the United States of America, Ireland, Uganda and Papua New Guinea are vying for the title and the winner will make it to the U19 World Cup Championship to be held in Bangladesh next year.
