FT: Sudan 0-2 Uganda (Agg: 0-4)
Going into the return leg of the final round of the 2016 CHAN Qualifiers, Uganda Cranes’ head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic said his troops were ready to complete the job in Sudan.
The Uganda Cranes have completed the job following 2-0 win at the Khartoum International Stadium qualifying for a third successive CHAN championship.
With Micho naming a defensive line up with five out right defenders and carrying a two goal advantage from the first leg, the Cranes started cautiously in the opening half hour while randomly going for counter attacks using the work rate of Miya, Okhuti as well as Muzamir Mutyaba.
Cranes’ central defensive set of Ayub Kiiza, Shafiq Bakaki and Bernard Muwanga along side the wing backs Joseph Ochaya and Denis Okot contained Eltaib Mudather and Muhammed Koko through the first half.
Uganda slowly gained the grip of the match and in the forty fourth minute, Ceasar Okhuti’s gave the visitors the lead after combining with Farouk Miya before the skipper, Miya scored Uganda’s second in added time of the half to take command of the tie.
After the break, the confidence of the Cranes was sky high as they were assured of qualification. Ayub Kiiza made way SC Villa’s left back Isaac Muleme, Frank Kalanda came in for Erisa Sekisambu to keep the pressure upfront and Keziron Kizito took the turf for Muzamir Mutyaba.
