Uganda athlete Moses Kipsiro has branded Athletics drug cheats, “Robots” that deserve severe punishments in a bid to encourage free and fair competition among athletes.
“We do not want to run with robots because they are using drugs. They need very tough punishment so that others don’t even ever think of using drugs,” Kipsiro told Xinhua.
The 2015 Great South Run marathon winner talked up the drugs plight currently making headlines in the whole world Athletics in the wake of World Anti-Doping Agency’s warning to neighbours Kenya of a possible ejection from the Olympics.
World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) panel also released a report with allegations of extortion and cover ups involving Russian doping an issue President of Russia, Vladmir Putin listed among the issues to be investigated and tackled immediately.
The use of performance enhancing substances has cost Kenya several athletes who been banned since. Koki Manunga and Joyce Zakary make the list after both became the IAAF World Athletics Championships’ first athletes to fail drugs tests.
In late January this year, Kenyan Female Athlete Rita Jeptoo was also banned for two years after failing a drugs test when traces of a banned substance in were found in her ‘A’ sample.
