Omar Manyaja has finally written his name among the drivers with the current version of rally cars in the country.
Mayanja acquired a Mitsubishi Evo X last week. The car was owned by Polish driver Michal Gasior.
Despite expectation that the car will debut in the month ending rally, Mayanja indicates that he is in no rush.
“I am on a bit of a crush program since the car got here. Am not sure they will be enough time between clearing formalities and getting the car ready to go,” he said.
“Also Kabale calls for a lot of logistics, so had opted to skip it. However if I secure a sponsorship package I may make it,” he added.
Mayanja is considered a formidable driver. He admits he is far from challenging for the NRC title.
“The objective is not the championship as I may not be able to take part in all events. But the objective is outright wins on selected events that I choose to take part in.”
He however confesses that the EvoX being new will not deprive him of his dream of winning events.
“I don’t think the car should present a steep learning curve. With the exception of Mangat, all the other drivers with Evo xs have just acquired them and I will be able to catch up on them,” he said.
“And the car is not only a championship winning car but also a low rally mileage and should be able to complete this season without much in the way of maintenance,”
