KCCA 2-2 Ndejje University (KCCA win 5-3 on penalties)
Last season’s finalists KCCA needed a penalty shootout to edge FUFA big League side Ndejje University in the Uganda Cup round of 16 to reach the quarters.
In a thrilling game played at Nakivubo, KCCA took a 2-0 lead courtesy of goals from Ceaser Okhuti who netted a penalty after Muzamiru Mutyaba was felled in the area and Jackson Nunda.
Towards end of the first half, the visitors pulled one back through Akena and it was all Ndejje after the break.
The Luwero based side’s dominance paid dividends eleven minutes to time as they found and equaliser through Baba and they missed on scoring the winner thanks to a cross bar and good goalkeeping from goalie Benjamin Ochan.
What KCCA lacked in 90 minutes, they produced in the shootout thanks to Herman Wasswa, Mutyaba, Okhuti, Joseph Ochaya and Timothy Awani who all converted while Odonkonyero hit the post to send his side out 5-3.
KCCA now joins Vipers, Hope Doves, Bright Stars and Soana who are already in the last eight.
