The late Uganda Cranes’ goalkeeper Abel Dhaira chorused a phrase during his playing active days – ‘Maanyi G’a Mukama’ loosely translated ‘Power of God’.

During a special requiem mass to celebrate the life of Abel Dhaira at All Saints Cathedral Church, Nakasero in Kampala on Monday morning, speaker after speaker reaffirmed Dhaira’s unquestionable commitment to serve God at all times.

One of Dhaira’s long term friends, Cyrus Lukwiya attested; “Dhaira adored and respected God all throughout his life. We used to call him Maanyi G’a Mukama because he lived to the statement. We have organized a special project code named Abel Dhaira Cancer Foundation”

All Saints Church priest, John Musa Akol delivering the day’s sermon called upon exemplary living in normal life. “Let us hold onto the positive things Abel Dhaira said and did” Akol said.

Sports State minister, Charles Bakabulindi noted;

Abel Dhaira lived a strong legacy worthy to be emulated

The mass was also attended by FUFA President, Moses Magogo, Uganda Cranes coach, Milutin Sredojevic, Cranes’ players led by Tonny Mawejje, Kampala City Lord Mayor, Elias Lukwago, Spokesperson of the Internal affairs, Pamela Ankunda, family members, football friends, active and retired footballer as well as many well wishers.
