In a move to win their sixth African Women Volleyball Club Championship and their first since 2013, Kenya Prisons are planning to reinforce their side ahead of the April 21-May 1 competition in Tunisia.
While speaking to Daily Nation, Prisons’ head coach David Lung’aho revealed how he would love to use French based stars in Brackside Agala, Jane Wacu and Evelyne Makuto, together with Mercy Moim who plies her trade in Finland.
They are all back in the country, if we can manage to register them, then they will hand us a big boost as far was our chances at the continental event are concerned
The paper also revealed that the four players are based in Europe courtesy of a technical relationship with Kenya Prisons.
Wacu, Moim, Agala and Makuto have for long been an integral part of the Prisons team but also played a vital role on the national side that has ruled volleyball on the continent.
Makuto was the 2015 Most Valuable Player in the African Women Volleyball Championship while Wacu was voted best setter at the same competition.
Moim is by far the best and most complete female volleyball player the continent has seen in the past five years.
Lung’aho has started with most these players from a young age and plans to also give other youngsters a shot at the games.
Ann Lowem, Shyrine Jepkemboi, Lillian Lelei and Emmaculate Chemtai were recruited by Prisons from Kwanthanze High School and could be on the plane to Tunisia.
Kenya will also be represented by record holders Pipeline and together with Prisons they will face stiff competition from holders Al Ahly, 2014 winners in Algeria’s GSP Algiers and Tunisia’s Carthage
