Ngungi Waweru is optimistic that Kenya can still defend its regional title in the second round of FIM Central Africa Motocross Challenge(CAC) in Kenya.

Uganda won the first round with 1217 points; the defending champions Kenya amassed 530points.

“My team did very well claiming podiums in some classes and that’s not bad for a small team we brought,” said Waweru who led team Kenya.

“In the second round we shall work on handling pressure, tackling the corners and others to hold Uganda to the title.”

“The next event will be in summer and most of our riders will be in summer holiday, so we shall have a bigger number than Uganda,” he asserted.

Kenya had Waweru and Rolf Kihara top the MX2 and MX125 classes.

Waweru is the the 2015 CAC MX125 and now the current leader of the MX2 class after he swept all the heats in round one over the weekend in Garuga.

He shared with Kawowo Sports his experience of the event.

“The race went on well for us although Saturday was better, it was dry unlike Sunday which was so muddy in the first heat and got too slippery as it dried up, so it was a bit difficult,” he said.

“The track is so technical making the race more exciting,” he added.
