2015/16 Nedbank Cup
- SuperSport United 3-2 Orlando Pirates
SuperSport United on Saturday evening won their fourth Nedbank Cup after a clinical 3-2 victory over Orlando Pirates at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The Matsatsantsa found themselves trailing 1-0 early in the final against Orlando Pirates, but responded almost immediately to equalize before going on to win 3-2.
Pirates opened the scoring in the 12th minute after Zimbabwe import Tendai Ndoro shot on target and his effort parried to Luvuyo Memela who tapped home.
Jeremy Brockie found the equalizer a few moments later thanks to Michael Boxall’s cross after he beat Thabo Matlabo.
In the 31st minute, Bradley Grobler volleyed home to make it 2-1 before Boxall headed Pirates 3-1 with four minutes to the mandatory half time break.
Defender Clayton Daniels made easy work for Pirates when he diverted the ball into his own net on 53 minutes.
SuperSport goalie Williams was later replaced by Boalefa Pule after a nasty collision with Ndoro for which seven minutes of added time were played after the expiration of the 90 minutes.
A late surge mounted by the Bucs did not yield any fruitful dividend in terms of goals returned as SuperSport defended with caution to win their fourth ever title that comes along with a CAF Confederation Cup ticket.
Uganda Cranes midfielder, Yassar Mugerwa was an un-used substitute in the game.
Kaizer Chiefs are the records winners of this trophy with 12 titles under the belt.
