Pre-season Friendly: KCCA 1-0 Maroons
KCCA FC completed the pre-season preparations on a positive note, winning 1-0 against Big League outfit, Maroons at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Tuesday.
Forward, Derrick Nsibambi proved he is among the uprising goal poachers with the sole strike in the 33rd minute.
KCCA finished the pre-season on a rather positive note having won most (apart from two) of their friendlies and customary season curtain raiser – FUFA Super Cup.
Mike Mutebi and Morley Byekwaso coached side defeated a host of teams in warm up games.
The league defending champions who recruited massively ahead of the 2016/17 season easily overcame a Mukono division three side, Nabuuti United in one of the early friendlies games played at Lugogo.
This was followed by victories against Big League side, Entebbe (4-1) and Mutima Musagi clan 3-1 before they traveled to Kamuli where they pipped stubborn Kamuli Park.
The Kamuli trip which has been now done for the past five years was spiced by passionate fans in the locality and two sweet first half strike from Ronald Musana and veteran, Geoffrey Sserunkuma.
The best game however was against Jinja side BUL who they beat courtesy of Geofrey Sserunkuma (brace) and Nsibambi’s powerfully executed header.
Add to the Super Cup 1-0 victory against Vipers last Sunday at Wankulukuku, KCCA ended the pre-season epoch with 20 goals scored in nine matches, conceding six.
The only grey area was registered in the Phillip Omondi tournament where they drew 1-1 with Soana before falling 3-1 to the inaugural winners, Proline.
Christened the ‘Kasasiro Lads’, KCCA kick start their title defence with a home fixture against tricky opposition, Jinja Municipal Council Hippos on Friday, 19th August 2016 at Lugogo.
