The National Chess League returns this Sunday, September 25 at Hotel Africana with exciting fixtures in the eleventh round as second placed Kireka Chess Club lock horns with the third in the division Mulago Kings while top dogs Dmark entertain Mulago Knights.

Both Kireka and Mulago have registered nine wins so far, but the latter lost round two to City Chess Club. A win for Shadrack Kantinti and teammates tomorrow would take them above their opponent

Prior to the league break, defending champions Dmark hammered Mulago Overs 5-0 in the tenth round to maintain their top of the table status, and direct rivals Kireka who registered a draw on board two earned a 4½: ½ victory over Mulago Knights to keep their hopes of winning this year’s title alive while piling pressure on league leaders.

Dmark have won all their games this season and are on course to retain the title for the fifth successive time. Kireka, positioned second on the table have 19 points from nine wins and a draw that came against Elijah Emojong’s City in the third round.

City’s Christine Namaganda still ranks best according to points scored having won nine and losing just once. The Olympian recorded wins in her first nine games, but lost to Joyce Kabengano in the tenth round.

Other fixtures will see Makindye and Mulago Overs take on Makerere University and SOM Academy respectively while Aviation meets Bank of Uganda.

Mengo Chess Club will also battle City as Comrades entertains University side Kyambogo.
