Uganda’s first rising Kick Boxing athlete and Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Corporal Titus Tugume returned home on Sunday to a hero’s welcome from the United States of America (USA).
Tugume had spent close to one week participating in the World Kickboxing Championships.
His toil and effort earned him two bronze medals from the event.

The soft-spoken UPDF Corporal was received at the Entebbe International Airport VIP Lounge by his mother, Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Katumba Wamala and a host of other UPDF Army officers.
Tugume managed to bag two bronze medals from the several fights he was participated in.
A jovial Tugume said during a press conference that was held at the Entebbe International Airport VIP Press Lounge.
I am happy that I’ve returned home with two bronze medals in point style and kick light fighting.
My target was to return home with Gold medals but all the same I’m happy and grateful to my sponsor General Katumba Wamala for his support

Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Katumba Wamala hailed Titus Tugume for his efforts and hard fought victory.
“I would like to thank Titus Tugume for not returning home empty handed. He fought on his own and has returned home with something. We as the UPDF believe in the power of sports to bring people together and morale boosting. In the past we couldn’t actively participate in sports because we were engaged in so many wars,” Gen. Katumba Wamala noted.
Tugume is among the promising kickboxers in the country at the moment.
