Paul Kipkosgei Kemboi has revealed he plans to walk away with at-least a medal from the Kampala World Cross Country Champions next year.
The Turkey citizen – born in Kenya – wants to show the world what he is made of courtesy of experience in 3000 m and 5000 m.
“My main focus of now is to Uganda for the World cross Country Championships that will be held in Kampala and will be able to compete among the best in World and be on the podium,” he told athletics.co.ke.
“Kampala will be a tough ground but am prepared for it as you saw last week at the European Cross Country Championship that was held in Sardinia and I was position two behind Aras Kayathe eventual winner, another Kenyan turned Turkey, was part of warm up to World Cross Country.”
About his switch from representing Kenya to Turkey, Kemboi said; “I made the choice as an individual and I have no regrets whatsoever and am enjoying my life as a Turkish citizen because they take good care of their very own.”
Kampala will be the fourth African city in the history of the IAAF World Cross Championships to host the tournament after Guiyang of China passed the baton in 2015.
The winner of the 2017 Kampala IAAF World Cross Country Championships will walk away with $30,000 (105 million Uganda Shillings).
