Sula ‘Malouda’ Matovu has signed with South African first division side, Royal Eagles.

Formerly at Kaizer Chiefs, the pacy left footed winger has been club-less for close to 8 months.

He has been training with the club for the past week before agreeing terms with promotion-chasing Eagles.

Final paper work for his work permit is underway to ensure he starts playing as soon as possible.

He watched his new side from the stands at the Harry Gwala Stadium as Kosta Papic’s side narrowly lost 2-1 to SuperSport United in the Nedbank Cup Round of 32.

The coach told journalists about Matovu’s development as quoted by Kick off;

He (Sula) signed a contract and he’s now working on getting his work permit and we are working on his ITC (International Transfer Certificate)

2013 AFCON winning Zambian midfielder Isaac Chansa will also join Matovu as the other new recruit at the club.

Matovu joined Kaizer Chiefs at the start of last season but struggled for game-time.

He was then released alongside another Ugandan Ivan Bukenya (now in India) and other players as Siboniso Gaxa, Philani Cele, Morgan Gould, Levy Mokgothu, Ovidy Karuru and Shandukani Mulovhedzi.

David Isabirye is a senior staff writer for Kawowo Sports where he covers most of the major events.
