Mbarara District Copa Football Qualifiers:
- Final: Mbarara High 2-1 Welden
Mbarara High School has won the 2017 Mbarara district football championship.
Christened ‘Chaapa’, Mbarara High School edged Welden 2-1 in a tense and well watched final played at the Kakyeka stadium on Thursday.
Nahason Nuwemukama and Nathanel Natamba were on target for Mbarara High School.
Welden had earlier skipped the first hurdle when they overcame rivals Sentah College 1-0 having had an easy ride over Nyakayojo, winning 6-0 in the quarter finals.
The Champions Mbarara High defeated Ntare School 3-1 in the other semi-finals.
In the semi-finals Mbarara High had earlier triumphed 3-0 against Mbarara S.S
The semi-finalists will represent Mbarara district at the Ankole Region qualifiers next month.
The national finals will be hosted by Masaka S.S between 6th to 20th May 2017.
