Masindi District Copa Football Qualifiers:
Final: Kabalega S.S 1-0 Advanced S.S
Kabalega Secondary School won the Masindi District Copa football qualifiers.
Ronald Bayiti was the day’s hero with the lone goal in the final against Advanced S.S at the Boma playground.
Enroute to reach the final, Kabalega had gritted their teeth to edge Kitara Model 5-3 in post match penalties after normal time had ended one goal apiece.
Martin Wabulo and talisman Bayiti were on target for Advanced and Kabalega respectively in normal time.
During the quarter final stage, Kabalega thumped Iman 4-0, Advanced overcame Bwijanga 2-0 and Kitara Model humiliated Kiyuya 7-0.
To reach the final, Advanced stopped Masindi Army 2-0 with the victorious Kabalega getting the better of Kitara Model. Wabulo scored for Kitara model in semifinals and Bayiti Ronald scored for Kabalega.
Kabalega and Advanced thus qualify for represent Masindi district in the Kitara Region qualifiers that will attract schools from Hoima, Kiryandondo, Kagadi, Kakumiro, Kibaale and Buliisa districts in the coming weeks.
The best three teams will make it to the national finals in Masaka where at least 60 schools are expected to take part across the country.
The national finals will take place between 8th and 20th May 2017, hosted by Masaka Secondary School.
Kibuli S.S is the reigning champion.
