For the second time this season, striker Brian Ahebwa has scored four times for Mbarara City in the FUFA Big League.
Ahebwa single handledly scored four goals in Mbarara City’s 4-1 victory against arch rivals Nyamityobora at the Kakyeeka Stadium on Sunday.
The sharp forward had also scored 4 goals in the 4-0 demolition of Masavu in March at Kakyeeka stadium.
Clinton Kamugisha’s decent free-kick from distance was the only consolation for the fast fading Nyamityobora who have not won a league game in the past 4 matches following back to back losses to Kireka United, Synergy, Entebbe and now Mbarara City.
Ahebwa makes it 14 goals in 22 matches – becoming the joint top scorer in the FUFA Big league, level with Patrick Kaddu of Maroons.
Mbarara City now 42 points from 22 matches and cements a play off slot. Nyamityobora remains stuck on 35 points with one match to go. They definitely extinguish their hopes of a play off slot.
In the other matches on the day Synergy required a late winner past struggling Entebbe Football Club in the 1-0 result at the Masaka Recreational stadium in Masaka.
Solomon Okwalinga scored the winning goal for Synergy.
Synergy now goes to 40 points from 22 matches played and definitely seals the play off slot.
Water and Hope Doves played to a goal-less draw at the Kyambogo West Play ground.
In the Elgon group, Ndejje University got the chance to close gap unto run away leaders, Maroons with a 4-0 home result past visiting Artland – Katale play at the university main campus in Luweero.
