The final two matches of the 2016/17 FUFA Big League shall take place at Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo come Sunday.

The development was confirmed by the FUFA Spokesperson, Ahmed Hussein on Thursday as a change from the earlier scheduled venue, Mutesa II Wankulukuku stadium.

Hussein, in an exclusive interview with Kawowo Sports revealed that Wankulukuku had been booked for another sporting function.

Because management at Wankulukuku informed us about the unavailability of the facility, we have therefore switched the final two games to the Phillip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

Mbarara City will take on Synergy in the early kick off to determine who advances to the Uganda Premier league.

In the second game, Masavu, winners of the Rwenzori Group will encounter Elgon Group leaders to determine the champion of the 2016/17 FUFA Big League season.

During the first two matches of the promotional playoffs played on Thursday, Mbarara City edged Perennial Big League side Ndejje University 5-3 in post match penalties after normal time had ended one goal apiece.

Bernard Katetemera gave Ndejje University the lead on 28 minutes before a late equalizer from Brian Ahebwa pushed the game to penalties.

In the second match of the day, Synergy overcame a 10 man Kira United side 3-1 to book their berth.

Solomon Okwalinga scored two goals that saw Kira United suffer a set back inside the opening 5 minutes.

Uganda Cranes’ head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic was among the spectators at Wankulukuku on Thursday.

Other coaches as Abdallah Mubiru (Police), Arthur Kyesmira (Edgars Youth) also graced the well attended first phase of the playoffs.

The Big League was started in 2015.
