Injured Express FC defender Vincent Onyebuchi is a worried man after the club has so far failed to clear hospital bills for him to undergo the final operation at Mengo.

The Nigerian suffered a broken leg towards the end of the season in the aborted Premier League match against Proline at Wankulukuku and has since been admitted at Mengo Hospital where he is receiving treatment.

However, he risks more time in the treatment room and or even stay there forever after the club failed to pay bills for his full operation.

This is in contrary to what the club chairperson Hon. Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi tells the fans and the public in general about the defender’s situation.

While appearing on a sports show dubbed ‘Omuwagiizi’ on Akaboozi FM on Saturday, she assured the fans how the club had paid all bills for the player and that he was on his way from Mengo to Lisa Medical Centre since the last operation had been done.

“Our injured player, Onyebuchi is steadily recovering after undergoing the final operation and will soon be moved to Lisa Medical Centre for more treatment,” he told the listeners.

However, when Kawowo Sports paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian, the situation was different as he is yet to undergo final operation as the club is yet to clear the balance.

According to receipt seen by our reporter, the total medical expenses amount is Nine Million One Hundred Ten Thousand Three Hundred Shillings (9,110,300/=) of which only Three Million Three Hundred Fifty Thousand Shillings (3,350,000/=) was paid leaving the balance as Five Million Seven Hundred Sixty Thousand Three Hundred (5,760,300/=).

“The situation is alarming. I even don’t have what to eat here and the chairperson doesn’t answer my calls,” confessed Onyebuchi.

Remmy Makumbi, his caretaker also confirmed the development.

Our efforts to speak to Nakiwala were futile as her known phone lines couldn’t be reached.
