Vipers have reportedly completed the signing of defender Yayo Lutimba.
The left back who played for Express FC last season on loan from URA joins as a free agent as his contract with the Lugazi based club comes to an end soon.
Lutimba had a good season with the Red Eagles and is believed to have attracted the attention of Portuguese Jorge Miguel Da Costa Duarte who allegedly ordered his bosses to bring him to St. Mary’s Kitende.
In case he joins, he will have to vie for the left back position on the team with Dan Birikwalira who played ahead of Aggrey Madoi for most games last season.
Madoi, who also featured as a centre back for some games especially under Abdallah Mubiru is expected to leave the club but not sure whether on a permanent deal or loan.
Vipers have already signed former SC Villa captain Taddeo Lwanga and Ssingo Ssaza striker Steven Mukwala with reports also ripe that they agreed a deal to lure departing Tom Masiko from KCCA.
The two-time league champions have let go of midfielders Siraje Sentamu (URA) and Keziron Kizito (AFC Leopards) with striker Alfred Leku also expected to leave after complaining of lack of game time.
The Venoms had a disappointing campaign in 2016/17 finishing third in the league and also failing to defend the Uganda Cup.
They also failed to reach the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup falling to South Africa’s Platinum Stars at the preliminary stage.
