George ‘Best’ Nsimbe has been voted by the Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) as the Best Coach for the month of May in the Kenya Premier League.
The Tusker FC tactician was unanimously voted by all the members after he guided the Brewers to maximum points from all the five games in the month to go joint top with Gor Mahia.
The former Victors, KCCA and Vipers coach started his career at the Ruaraka based side in a bad fashion losing close to five games but has arrested the rot and the team is currently doing well.
“I feel great to win this award just six months after joining the team,” he told the press. “I thank my technical staff, the players and fans who made me win it,” he added.
We started the season badly, but we knew we were the defending champions and we sat down as the technical bench and rectified our mistakes.
Nsimbe, who walked away with a plaque and cheque worth Ksh. 75,000 (Ugx. 2.5 million) still believes the champions will retain their title saying it’s marathon with many games to go.
We still believe we can retain the title; there are a lot of games remaining and we know it is a marathon. We finished the first leg on a high and we can still get the same run.
Nsimbe is one of the three coaches managing in the Kenyan topflight alongside Sam Ssimbwa (Sofapaka) and Paul Nkata (Bandari).
The trio all boast of league titles in their career with Nsimbe on three – all won with KCCA, Ssimbwa has won one with Express FC whilst Nkata’s came at Tusker just last season.
