Uganda Cranes and KCCA FC defender Timothy Dennis Awany is back to the country after a trial stint with Ajax Cape Town in South Africa.

The central defender traveled last week for trials and the details regarding what transpired remain scanty at large.

He is expected to re-join the national team training on Monday at Lugogo ahead of the CHAN 2018 return leg qualifier against Rwanda in Kigali on Saturday.

Awany missed the first leg having played against South Sudan and his experience will be crucial for the team during the return leg at a time when defender Savio Kabugo is expected to travel for trials this week.

Against Rwanda at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, the technical team entrusted Paul Musamali and Kabugo for the central defensive roles.

Now the other options available will be Awany and Bernard Muwanga, who started as a deep lying midfielder against Rwanda before paving way for Tom Masiko.

Uganda Cranes lead 3-0 from the first leg thanks to goals from Muzamiru Mutyaba (2) and Derrick Nsibambi.
