Bul’s first win of the campaign arrived on Wednesday after the side gunned down UPDF at Kakindu Stadium, Jinja.
Congolese striker Pierre Kambale and Mike Ndera got the match winning goals in the first half as UPDF were condemned to a 2-0 defeat.
The side approached the game winless in their opening three games, but the two goals were just enough to deliver victory.
A clean sheet was kept for the second time this season, and Kefa Kisala hailed his side for being disciplined.
“We didn’t play well as we expected to, but professional football is all about winning and a win is what matters,” Kisala said. “We were disciplined in the game. We scored in the first half and played with discipline which was great.
“My players played well. I thank them for this win; it was important we get this win because we were among the bottom teams. I want also to thank our fans for their great support. The campaign now begins,” He added.
Kambale, a new addition netted first on Wednesday.
The striker had his debut delayed due to ICT issues, but finally got his first appearance and it was a memorable one.
Kisala who made it known from the start of the season that the Congolese is his number one striker this campaign said:
Mwindu’s absence affected us. We started the preseason with him, but here we were starting the league without him. It really affected us, but what matters is, that was finally sorted. We know he is going to score goals. It was good to see him score on his debut.
Victory elevated Bul who host defending champions KCCA after the international break to the seventh position.
