Manvir Baryan and Drew Sturrock have secured their maiden Africa Rally Championship title with victory in the Zambia International Rally on Sunday.
The Multiple Racing Team dominated the Zambia Rally leading from the start to the end, to make it four wins of the six ARC rounds.
“The weekend has been fabulous. We had no major issues throughout the event besides a puncture yesterday. But everything was fine, from the routes to the organisation.
“We are happy for yet another win for us and winning the big title. It was our target from the time we decided to take on ARC. And we have it now,” said Baryan.
Baryan and Sturrock only participated in five ARC rounds collecting 115 points to seal the title. Baryan gives Kenya a third ARC title in a row.
He also becomes the fourth Kenyan to win the coveted title after Don Smith (2016), Jaspreet Chatthe (2015) and David Horsey (1984).
Meanwhile, Muna Singh Jr edged his father to come second three minutes, 16 seconds behind winner Baryan.
Muna Singh Sr settled for third overall accomplishing his earlier targets of the event.
Farouk Tickley finished fourth followed by Leroy Gomes and Christakis Fitidis in fifth and sixth respectively.
Meanwhile, Leroy Gomes and Urshlla Gomes finished second overall in the ARC with Christakis Fitidis and Eric Nzamwita in third.
Only 12 crews finished of the 34 that started the event on Saturday.
