CAF “A” licensed tactician Moses Basena is reportedly set to quit his job as head coach at army side Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF).
According to reports from the Bombo based club, Basena is set to hold a meeting with the top bosses at the club on Tuesday and communicate his position.
The former Uganda Cranes international who has had a torrid time to balance his current positions as head coach at Uganda Cranes and UPDF is set to step aside at the club.
The development happens at a time when the Uganda Cranes job was advertised and Basena is among the coaches interested in the job.
UPDF Football Club spokesman Edmund Kintu downplays the talk that Basena has resigned or is already sacked.
“The coach (Moses Basena) will hold secretive meetings with the club officials to decide on way forward. At the moment, there is nothing conclusive,” Kintu reveals.
A few weeks ago, Basena wrote to his bosses at the army club requesting for a two months leave seeking accomplishment of the current Uganda Cranes job term that ends with a clash against Congo Brazzaville on 6th November 2017.
Basena has been away from the club during the games against BUL, SC Villa and recently at home against Masavu.
The club has virtually struggled to set a foot right in the league with only one victory in six games.
John Kayanja, has been in charge at all times that the former Coffee and SC Villa player has been away with the national team.
Basena is also being linked to Soana and SC Villa.
