Uganda Cranes and Congo Red Devils played to a one all draw the final Group E encounter of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers played at the Stade De L’Unite, Kintele in Brazzaville.

French born defender Marvin Baudry, who features for Belgian first division outfit Sportvereniging Zulte Waregem put the home team ahead in the 10th minute.

Uganda Cranes quickly made amends through Vipers Sports Club winger cum forward Milton Karisa, a minute later.

Geofrey Sserunkuma and Muzamiru Mutyaba got close to doubling the scoreline for the visiting side as the first half ended one all.

Ten minutes into the second, the Cranes head coach Moses Basena called for a double substitution.

Sports Club Villa Jogoo midfielder replaced KCCA’s Mutyaba and Derrick Nsibambi came on for Sserunkuma.

Vipers midfielder Tom Masiko was the final change for Uganda replacing Isaac Muleme with 6 minutes left on the clock.

Congo had a chance in the latter stages of the second half  but a fierce strike from distance by Thievy Bifouma went just wide of the left upright.

Murushid Jjuuko and Nico Wakiro Wadada were booked for Uganda, and Congo’s Romaric Etou Thomaso got cautioned for the home side.

Uganda finishes second in Group E with 9 points. Congo attained their second point in the campaign.
