The statistics do not make a gleeful reading for Express who visit Proline on Saturday in the Uganda Premier League.
Not only have the Red Eagles – who suspended coach Douglas Bamweyana after that humiliating defeat to Masavu in midweek – lost five times thus far, they have managed to find the back of the net just five times this term; that’s just one goal more than the least scoring team in the division, Mbarara City.
While they’ve not let in many goals, with only seven conceded, they have not yet met a free-scoring team. This is the kind of opponent they face on Saturday, with Proline who have the third highest tally of goals scored this term [11] the opposition.
Only champions KCCA have scored more goals [17] than Mujib Kasule’s charges. The table suggests Police are second in the scoring charts, but the Cops’ three of the thirteen goals were awarded by the board after Masavu failed to honor the fixture on the opening day of the season.
Stationed on a paltry eight points in the dreaded zone, it is perhaps not a perfect time for Express to face Proline who have blown away their previous opponents at home. Kasule’s boys do struggle on their travels hence their current position in the table standings, but they make that up with overwhelming displays at home.
There’s need for Express to scrap points and move away from the relegation zone, but that’s unlikely tomorrow. Only one point has been managed in the last four games which means the omens aren’t too optimistic for the Red Eagles.
Proline sit closer to the drop zone, but they will hope their red-hot home form continues on Saturday as they look to further put a distance between themselves and the red line.
