The World Cup bound Kenya U19 team cancelled their planned tour of Uganda due to unpredictable weather.
The rainy season in the Kenya has curtailed the preparations of the Kenya side as they prepare for the junior World Cup due in January.
They sought to play some warm up games in Uganda before they leave for the World Cup proper in January but the rains in Kampala have scared them off.
The weather in Kampala has been of daily showers in the afternoons and some of the T20 games have been affected by the same. This forced the management to rethink the idea of coming to Uganda.
A source at the secretariat of Uganda Cricket confirmed the same saying;
Kenya really wanted to come but we advised them about our weather situation and since they wanted to play 50 over games it would be useful for them to play for half day and have the rest of the day washed out due to rain. They therefore opted to cancel the trip all together.
Kenya would are in Group A andwill face defending champions West Indies, fellow African representatives South Africa and hosts New Zealand.
The tournament is due to start on 13th January and run to 4th February in New Zealand.
Uganda missed out on the global showpiece after they were edged out by neighbors Kenya on the final day via net run rate.
