Vipers Sports Club smiled to an emphatic 3-0 victory at the hands of Kampala Junior Team (KJT) during a mid-season warm up game played at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende on Wednesday.

Workaholic utility player Deus Bukenya as well as forwards Erisa Ssekisambu and Brian Kalumba were on target for the club christened The Venoms.

The day’s skipper, left back Yayo Lutimba assisted Bukenya for the opener, a wonderfully worked out goal 26 minutes into the morning game punctuated by rains towards its climax.

Two time Uganda Cup top scorer Ssekisambu then optimally utilized a delightful through ball from teenager Bobos Byaruhanga as Miguel Da Costa’s side took a 2-0 lead by the mandatory half time break.

Kalumba killed off any chance for the visitors with the third strike after good inter-play involving the hard working cum intelligent albeit diminutive left winger Duncan Sseninde and veteran forward Tonny ‘Ten’ Odur in the 83rd minute.

The game, played before an empty stadium also witnessed the dread locked former Gor Mahia, Bandari and Express forward Daniel ‘Muzei’ Sserunkuma feature for Vipers.

Returning center half, Halid Lwaliwa, injured during a ‘Uganda Cranes Na-Mutima’ match (national regional tour) against Kitara Region select team at Buhinga stadium last year also proved he is on the perfect and steady ladder steps to full recovery.

The calm and extremely intelligent defender showed no moments of nervousness in tackling as he won 80 percent of the physical battles he was engaged.

The five Uganda Cranes players who have been with the national team in Morocco for the CHAN 2018 tournament – Milton Karisa, Nico Wakiro Wadada, Taddeo Lwanga and goalkeeper Rashid Bin Isima Watenga did not feature in the build up.

During this mid-season epoch, Vipers has so far played three games, scoring 14 goals and conceding none.

Earlier on, Vipers whipped Jinja based Venoms 9-0 before triumphing 2-0 against Kampala regional side, Spartans.

Last Build Up

Vipers will engage themselves in the final build up of the mid-season this Sunday against Buganda regional side, Kasenge.

The Venoms are preparing for the Uganda Premier League second round as well as the FUFA Uganda Cup round of 64.

Vipers will face Kasese based regional side, Bronken Sports Club at the Nyamitanga playground in friendly match on Sunday, 4th February 2018.
