The Cricket Cranes were flagged off this morning for their build up tour of Qatar and India.

The team was flagged off by National Council of Sports Assistant General Secretary David Katende together with UCA operations Manager Martin Ondeko.

The 16 man team led by Roger Mukasa will be joined by Llyod Paternnot in Qatar from his base in the UK.

They will play 3 T20 games and 2 ODIs in Qatar from 8th-13th February before connecting to Mumbai for the Indian League tour.

Team Coach Steve Tikolo is confident that Llyod Paternnot can add value to the side;

We were able to see what Llyod can do for us and we know he will add a lot of value to our batting – a department we have struggled in for a long time.

We have been following his performances in the UK and he has scored some big 100s for his side, we hope he brings that form into our team.

Stephen Wambose and Emmanuel Isaneez will join the team in India because Bilal Hassan, Riaz Khan and Afridi Irfan of Pakistan origin cannot travel to India.

Uganda will use this build up trip as preparation for the main event in Malaysia for the World Cricket League Division 4 tournament in April.

Uganda was relegated to Division 4 in June last year and they will be hoping the can bounce back immediately.

The tour will run from 6th – 24th February with the team playing their 1st game on Thursday.

Denis has represented Uganda in international cricket events including the World Cup. He is currently the captain of Wanderers Cricket Club. Interwin Interwin INTERWIN Starwin88 ...
