Misfortune befell Lloyd Paternnot on his debut for his adopted nation when he badly injured his knee in the 13 run loss to the Presidents XI in the first tour match for the Cricket Cranes.

Lloyd failed to connect with the final match of the day and in the process twisted a knee that he has hurt before. He needed medical attention on the field before being taken to the hospital for further check up.

Unfortunately the news from the doctor was devastating for Lloyd and the whole of team Uganda with the test revealing that Lloyd will be out for at least a month.

He will need time to be able to walk again before he can start some light running and then practice.

With the Division 4 qualifiers due in April, team Uganda management will be hoping Lloyd recovers in time to sort the batting problem that has troubled the Cricket Cranes.

This is the 2nd time Lloyd is getting injured while on duty with the Cricket Cranes and he was visibly disappointed given how much time and effort he has put in to pay back the faith the association and team management has put in him.

In a dejected message Lloyd said;

Am very gutted about this injury, being injured in the first tour game is so disappointing. I have worked very hard to be here and wanted to pay back the faith a lot of people have had in me.

I will take time to think very hard about my next move for now I can only follow the doctors orders.

The side will be short of resources when they travel to India with the Pakistan trio of Bilal Hassan, Riaz Khan and Irfan Afridi unable to travel to India.

However, no replacement has been named for the trip as of now.

Denis has represented Uganda in international cricket events including the World Cup. He is currently the captain of Wanderers Cricket Club. Interwin Interwin INTERWIN Starwin88 ...
